Visit to the Dentist

Will was due for a dental appointment and I decided that it was time for the quads to begin seeing the dentist as well. I know that some people begin taking their kids much younger, but we first took Will at three and figured we would just stick with that. I was able to get all five in at the same time, so Rod went into work late so that he could go with us and the whole family headed out together.

Will went first (he has been several times before, so he knows the drill) and he set such a good example or the little ones. Actually, he is so sweet! Yesterday I told him that we were all going to the dentist and he said that maybe we should call him "the Tooth Fairy" instead of the dentist to make sure the babies wouldn't be scared. Isn't he such a good big brother?

I had talked about this appointment with everyone and the quads were excited about seeing "the tooth doctor." Still, I wasn't sure what to expect. Everyone was wonderful!! No crying, no fussing, everyone sat nicely and let Dr. Haas examine and clean their teeth. At the end of the appointment, one of the hygienists came and thanked me for bringing them in. She said they made her day-- Well, she made mine!

Everyone got a good report! Nice, clean teeth. My favorite part? The dentist assured me that Drew's teeth which stick out from his finger sucking are not necessarily permanent. He said that the baby teeth move, but the adult teeth are not always affected. Hopefully we can get him to stop sucking that finger in the next couple of years before the adult teeth come in. We are so grateful for the wonderful staff at our dentist's office. I hope this always remains a simple exam we can check off with no drama!!

  1. Congrats!!! on a successful trip to the dentist's office. We know it can be quite a handful, but staff is usually pretty good and helping. Ours went really well also.

  3. Good for you for taking your kiddos to the dentist! My plan was to take our kids when they turned 3, but I haven't done it yet. Kaden has some sensory issues, and I have to fight him every day to even get his teeth brushed, I can't imagine what he would think of the dentist. We were at the doctor's office the other day, adn they had a hygenist there doing a flouride rinse for everyone. Brett and Cooper did great with it, Parker and Kaden screamed the second she came close to them. I guess I just need to suck it up and take them and see what happens! They just might have to knock them out to get their teeth cleaned!

  4. Congratulations, it looks like your kids had a fun visit to the dentist and it's a nice place. Dentists can make kids feel tense and a place like that makes it easier for them. As long as they're kids, you should bring them to pediatric dentists to keep their teeth clean without any trouble.

  5. LOL, somehow I think it's a miracle that you're able to get all of your kids to attend the dentist at the same time. And the fact that no one was crying was also wonderful. Somehow your trip to the dentist became a family bonding time.
