School's Out For Summer!

Another year of school has come and gone.  I have a big, smart second grader now.  So hard to believe.  I'm so relieved that the quads will never get this big.  They're going to stay little for me forever, right?  Right?!?

Will on the first day of school

Will on the last day of school.

Last week, Will's class put on a few little plays for their families.
Will was adorable and did a great job!
(he is 4th from the left in the tan shorts)

Afterward, I was just hit with a wave of emotion at seeing my big boy.  I couldn't help but cry.
So my sweet guy came and gave me an extra big cuddle, which helped a lot!

Aunt Sara came

And so did Grandma and Grandpa.

Daddy was able to leave work for a bit to see the show.

Once school was over, Will had one request.  He wanted me to shave his head!

He definitely had shaggy hair and needed something...

So we shaved it short!

Of course, whatever Will gets, Drew wants!

and after!

We are already off and running on a fun, busy summer.  Hope you all are having a good one!

Sunday Cell Phone Pics

Again, here is a look at our week in pictures.  These are pictures I've taken on my phone of funny or cute moments with the kids.

Julia taking a break on the picnic blanket during Will's baseball game.

 My little tom-boy Paige

We went to my SIL Laura's for a party but weren't planning to swim, so I didn't bring swimsuits.  It was really hot and a few people got in the pool, so the kids were begging to get in.

We ended up letting them get in the hot tub in their underwear.
They had a blast!

Drew taking a break.

Princess Julia decked out in some play jewelry.

This picture cracks me up.  I think it perfectly captures Drew's funny life.
He has an enormous Nerf gun of Will's.
He is also carrying a little satin fairy purse full of extra bullets.
He is a tough little boy trapped in a girly-girly world :-)

We had a big outing this week!  We took the entire family to the movies together.  This was the quads' first time to the movie theater.  We saw The Lorax.
Everyone liked the movie and they were so well behaved!

Another great week with our family!

Lots of Small Steps for the Lachmann Kids...

One Giant Leap for the Lachmann Family!  Today was a big day for us.  Will had the day off for our state's primary, so I took the five kids to the zoo.  We've been to the zoo dozens of times, but this time was different.  Look at this picture...
What do you see?  Or more to the point, what don't you see?
No stroller, no wagon.  That's right, free-range kids!!

We met up with Joanna and her girls.
Here are all of the kids (minus Ellie who was in her stroller.)

Izzie, Julia, Will, Paige, Drew and Alex on a crocodile.
Or is it an alligator?  I have no idea how to distinguish the two...

Will, Paige and Izzie watching a peacock.

Julia playing in the turtle shell in the children's zoo.

Overall the kids did a great job.  They held hands and stayed together.  I was quite anxious the whole time, but hopefully this will get easier and easier for me as we do more and more without any restraints of any sort.  I know the kids love the freedom.  Big bonus-- super tired kids after walking the hills of the Cincinnati zoo all day!

Sunday Cell Phone Photo Dump

Once again, here is a glimpse at out daily lives as shown by some picture taken on my cell phone.

 At lunch with Julia

 and lunch with Izzie

Paige and Julia put socks on Uncle Sock Monkey
(yes, that is the name of Julia's enormous sock monkey.)

The kids and I went to the courthouse to pay our vehicle registration.
It was such a beautiful day, I had to get a pic of the crew on our way in!

Julia had some silly little clip-in hair extensions.
She wanted me to wear one with her so we would look alike :-)

The crew watching Daddy work in the yard.
They barely fit in the doorway anymore... :-(

Baseball is underway for Big Will!!

Mother's Day Interview

I found this fun list of questions to ask your kids over at my friend Mandy's blog.  I was curious and wanted to see what my silly kids would say, so I decided to put my crew in the hotseat.  Rod was at work, so I had to do the questioning myself, but I made sure to separate the kids so they couldn't steal each other's answers.  Some of the answers were what I expected, some surprised me and some just left me laughing and scratching my head.  Par for the course, I guess...

If your mommy were an animal, what kind would she be?
Will- a funny monkey
Izzie- a dinosaur
Julia- a kangaroo
Drew- a giraffe
Paige- a giraffe
--yes, the kids were separated and Drew and Paige each came up with a giraffe on their own.  I don't think that any of these animals would be my first choice, but they are all animals my kids love, so I'll take them.

My mommy is as pretty as……………
W- a flower
I- a rose
J- Grandma
D-a princess
P- a giraffe
-- Izzie's answer made me smile.  Her middle name is Rose and I often say, "Isabella Rose is as pretty as a rose."  I guess it stuck.  As for Julia's, I do look like my Mom, so I guess that works.  Paige's?  Well, okay.

I love my Mommy because...............
W- you're the nicest Mommy in the world!
I- you feed me.
J- I like you.
D- I love you.
P- you are Daddy's wife.
--Will clearly knows how to sweet talk his Mama!  Izzie, well she could take a lesson there.  Guess I'd better keep the meals coming.  Again, I'm not really sure where Paige's answer came from.

My mommy says the most important rule is……………
W- do not hurt anybody.
I- I don't remember.
J- go in the potty.
D- don't hurt people.
P-no fighting.
-- clearly, I have been refereeing quite a bit lately.  Well, that and potty training.  Also, I have to say this is not the first time Izzie has forgotten the rules around here :-)

What food does your mommy make best?
W- sloppy Joe
I- macaroni
J- lasagna
D- peanut butter & jelly
P- cereal
-- Yes, I am quite the gourmet.  At least my lasagna got a mention!

My favorite thing to do with my mommy is……………
W- hug.
I- helping.
J- help wash dishes.
D- play puzzles.
P- play pretend.
--  Awww Will.  I love hugging him too!  The girls really do love to help me do things.  I hope that desire to help and clean sticks around.

Nobody is better than my mommy at…………
W- cooking.
I- making lunch.
J- writing people's names.
D- puzzles.
P- playing.
--After the question about my best dish, Will's answer is in debate.  Maybe I should have given Izzie a snack before asking her these questions.  She seemed to really have food on her brain.  Julia's answer?  Nope, no idea.

What makes your mommy laugh?
W- me
I- funny
J- jokes
D- playing
P- funny faces
-- All true answers.

Thanks to Mandy for letting me play along.  I love to get a glimpse into my kids little minds :-)

Gone Fishin'

For the last couple of years, Rod has taken Will fishing fairly often.  Every couple of weeks, the two of them will head out to see what they can catch.  We have a couple of small lakes locally where they occasionally go, but most of the time, they fish at Rod's Uncle Mark's.  Mark has a nice lake on his property with a small dock. The lake is full of bass and bluegills. Will loves to go there!

I know that Will enjoys a little special time with his dad.  You know, time for the two of them to do 'manly' things ;-)  Also, I have never been a fan of fishing.  I am apparently quite delicious, so the mosquitoes try to eat me alive and there is no way I am touching a fish (shudder)!  All of this combines to say that I have always left this as something for just Rod and Will.

Well, recently Will has been asking if I would go fishing with them.  I have no interest at all in fishing, but what can I say-- I adore that kid.  So last weekend, we got my sister to come over and stay with the little kids for a couple of hours and Will, Rod and I all went fishing

We had a nice time.  I would still not say that I like fishing, but it is definitely more fun when you get to watch your little boy hanging out and fishing like a big man.  The sun was setting and the lake was pretty, so I got a few pictures of my guy in action.  He loved showing me how to do things and being my coach.  He is really growing up!

 Will fishing off the dock.

Yes, I did catch one fish, but I still was not touching it.
Here is Will proudly displaying my catch.

Just Some Pictures

As if I needed another reason to fall behind on blogging, blogger has gone and changed their format.  People, it was a miracle I was able to figure out the old way (I am pretty behind on technology)-- let's not push it!
Well, at this point, I'm just going to post some pictures from the last few weeks to get back on track.
Here are my little cuties showing some of the fun we've had recently!

The kids were watching TV while I cleaned up in the kitchen. I could hear Paige and Izzie giggling.
When I looked in, this is what I found.

My twin nephews, Dan and Evan turned 16!!!(Yikes! Clear the roads!)

When we sang to them at their bday party, Dan held Drew.
Drew was so happy to be with the big boys (and, let's face it- closer to the cake.)

I've made a real effort to spend some special one-on-one (or one-on-two) time with the kids. When Rod is home, I'll often take one or two kids with me to run errands and we'll stop for lunch.
Miss Paige (how stinking cute is she?!?)
Will and Drew (seriously, my boys could not be sweeter!)

And I also got to spend some one-on-one time with my favorite guy!  Rod got me tickets to see Barry Manilow when he was in town recently.  The concert was fabulous and we had a wonderful time!
Yeah, not a great picture, but we had a lot of fun!

The kids playing with hats at Kohl's.  The Kentucky Derby is this weekend...
What do you think of our Derby hats?

My multiples group had a fireman come to talk about fire safety and he brought us hats for our kids.  I got home from the meeting after the kids were in bed, so they got their hats when they woke up the next morning.
They were so excited!  They played fireman nearly all day.

Well, there are some highlights from the last few weeks.  Hope to update again soon!
